Cliff College has a long and rich heritage of providing theological education and training in mission, evangelism, leadership, church pioneering and youth/children’s ministry that is both relevant and forward thinking. Validation by the University of Manchester helps us to achieve the highest academic standards and our 250+ students come from a broad range of church traditions and nationalities and study full-time or part-time in a community steeped in the values of the evangelical, charismatic and Wesleyan traditions.

 

BA Th Course Information (normally Full-time)

Certificate in Theology (certHE)

The first year Certificate in Theology course provides initial courses in Biblical Studies, Theological Studies, Church History, Worship, Ministry, Mission and Evangelism, including participation in mission programmes and placements.

Diploma in Theology (dipHE)

The second year Diploma in Theology course provides courses in Biblical Interpretation and Exegesis, Biblical Languages, Theological Studies, Church History, World Faiths, and more specialised courses in youth/children’s Ministry, Urban Mission and Evangelism including participation in mission programmes and placements.

BA in Theology (Hons)

The third year BA in Theology Course provides courses in Biblical Theology, Biblical Languages, Youth Ministry, Theology, Research and Mission including participation in mission programmes and placements.

BA (Hons) Mission and Ministry Course Information (Part-time)

Diploma in Children Mission and Ministry (dipHE)

The CMM diploma course, run in partnership with Scripture Union, CPAS and Urban Saints, is directed at those working with children whether in Church, weekday clubs, detached, uniformed organisations or school settings.  It is open to both volunteer and employed workers. It includes a placement and consists of a total of 5 intensive teaching weeks spread across 2 years, and requires a minimum of 100 hours contact time with children per year.

Diploma in Youth Mission and Ministry (dipHe)

The YMM diploma course, run in partnership with Youth for Christ and Scripture Union, equips youth workers to think theologically about their own practice, to offer insights into cultural issues relevant to work amongst young people, and explores contemporary church models and leadership roles.  It is open to both volunteer and employed workers. It includes a placement and consists of a total of 5 intensive teaching weeks spread across 2 years, and requires a minimum of 100 hours contact time with young people per year.

Diploma in Third Age Mission and Ministry (dipHe)

The TAMM diploma course, run in partnership with Methodist Homes for the Aged, equips workers amongst the elderly to reflect on their own practice, as well as to offer insights into creative ministry amongst older people. It is open to both volunteer and employed workers. It includes a placement and consists of a total of 5 intensive teaching weeks spread across 2 years, and requires a minimum of 100 hours contact time with older people per year.

BA (Hons) in Mission and Ministry (Children, Youth, Third Age)

The BA (Hons) degree in Mission and Ministry is a two year, part time course which aims to further extend the training in vocational mission and ministry.  This is taken after completion of one of the three part-time Mission and Ministry diploma courses (CMM, YMM, TAMM).  It is open to both volunteer and employed workers. It includes a supervised placement, with mentor support and consists of a total of 5 intensive teaching weeks spread across 2 years.

MA in Mission Course Information

The MA in Mission can be taken either full-time or part-time and consists of 4 taught units and a dissertation.  It is also possible to graduate with a PG Cert in Mission (after 2 taught units) or a PG Dip in Mission (after 4 taught units).  The Mission programme has 10 streams each of which normally has 2 compulsory and 2 optional units, each unit delivered as a one week teaching block.  The streams are as follows:

Evangelism

The programme in Evangelism is for people who want to think seriously and deeply about the practice of mission and evangelism in our contemporary culture.

Emerging Church

The programme in Emerging Church is for people who want to explore creative new ways of being and doing church that may point to future of Christianity in our contemporary culture.  On this stream students pioneer a new church.

Leadership and Renewal

The programme in Leadership, Renewal and Mission is for people who want to think through the nature and practice of leadership in the contexts of church renewal and mission.

Wesleyan Theology and Spirituality

The programme in Wesleyan Theology and Spirituality is for people who want to explore the Wesleyan model for application in the vocation of mission and evangelism today.

Celtic Mission and Spirituality

The programme in Celtic Mission and Spirituality is for people who want to think through the nature of Celtic Christian understanding and practice and seek to engage in mission in contemporary society.

The World of Work

The purpose of this innovative programme is to enable participants to equip themselves to reflect on, explore, develop strategies for and access resources to further mission in the world of work more effectively.

Religious Pluralism

The programme in Mission and Religious Pluralism is for people who want to explore the missional implications of the contemporary pluralist world and how Christians understand and engage evangelistically with people of other faiths.

Children and Youth

The programme in Children’s and Youth Mission is for people who want to explore creative new ways of missionally engaging with children and youth people in our contemporary culture.

PhD and MPhil

Cliff College has a successful and growing research degree programme with students working at both MPhil and PhD levels, part-time and full-time, in the UK and overseas.

Professional Doctorate in Missiology (DMiss)

Cliff is very pleased to be the first British college to offer a professional doctorate in missiology programme, delivered part-time, and open to those involved in mission who want to reflect on mission at doctoral level.
