Course Information

Accelerate: One-year Certificate

This course is designed to train and disciple you, as you seek to develop your Christian service skills. You will be assigned to a church or Christian organisation as close as possible to Moorlands, and spend one day a week in college.

Foundation Year Certificate

This is a one-year course designed to give students a route onto the degree course if they have been out of education for a long time, or do not have the necessary two A levels needed for direct entry.

Moorlands Certificate

If you are married to a Moorlands student and you are unable to contemplate a full-time course yourself. This is a tailor made programme for you.

Certificate (CertHE) in Applied Theology

This course consists of level one of the degree course described below. It suits those who can spare nine months to build upon their knowledge and be inspired towards ongoing Christian service.

Diploma (DipHE) in Applied Theology

The DipHE consists of levels one and two of the degree course described below. It is designed to stand on it’s own and to send you out equipped to engage confidently in Christian service.

BA (Hons) Degree in Applied Theology

The three-year degree course takes you through three levels of study. Level I: Basic studies of the Bible, doctrine, theological understanding of other areas and practical skills, with a strong emphasis on the theory and practice of a broad range of types of Christian service. Level II: Where you begin to specialise more. In addition to continued biblical and doctrinal studies, you choose modules that reflect your interests and abilities, especially in relation to the six tracks: cross cultural, evangelism, pastoral, youth and community work (with JNC professional qualification), community & family studies and children & schools work. Level III: specialisation applies to most of your work. Professional studies in your chosen track are complimented by further year-long and block placements, and a dissertation.

BA in Applied Theology

The pass degree is a flexible, modified version of the honours degree programme. It has in mind those, for whom gaining of honours is less significant than the allocation of more time to personal and spiritual development or practical work, and those who feel the completion of all the requirements for an honours degree is beyond their reach.

Placement-Based BA and (Hons) in Applied Theology

You can now get the best training possible and work for a Church/ Christian organisation. In addition to three study week blocks, you will spend one day a week at Moorlands receiving high quality teaching and coaching. The rest of the week will be split between private study and work in your placement.

MA in Applied Theology

We now offer four strands to the MA in Applied Theology: MA in Applied Theology: Christian Leadership, Preaching, Family Children and Community Work and Youth and Community Work (with JNC Professional Qualification). The MA course is part-time, relevant and flexible. It consists of four two-day blocks a year, with supported individual study in between, while you continue your job.
