School for Officer Training
Specifically for those who are called to officer-ministry within The Salvation Army, but also offers training for others wishing to engage in full-time spiritual leadership within the movement.
The two year residential course for officer training is validated by the University of Gloucestershire as a Diploma in Higher Education.
It covers four main 'fields':
- Spiritual Growth and Development
- Biblical Studies
- Faith and Practice
- Ministry and Mission

School for In-service Training and Development
This department seeks to provide learning and development opportunities for 4000 employees and 1500 officers (ministers) within The Salvation Army. Courses available include NVQ’s in Health and Social Care, Customer Services and Leadership and Management. A Diploma in Management Studies can also be undertaken.
Short residential courses, as well as day courses, are available for skills and spiritual development. We also work with the University of Kent in providing a module in Addictive Behaviour and in addition to this, Salvation Army officers are able to gain a BA in Pastoral Care with Psychology or a BA in Theology and Ministry through our partnerships with Havering College and York St John University.

Open Learning - Distance Learning Courses in Christian Studies
Offers distance learning aimed at helping Christians - or enquirers about Christianity - to grow in their knowledge and understanding of the Faith. A range of courses covering Biblical Studies, Spiritual Growth, and Salvationism are open to all. They are not externally validated, carrying the authority of William Booth College, and meriting a certificate.
